The hat store at Friesenwall in Cologne fills the company Diefenthal 1905
with new life.
After the previous owner had operated this millinery for 35 years and collected old treasures, we were given the opportunity to preserve and expand this wonderful collection.
After an extensive renovation in order to preserve the charm of this unique business and prepare it for the future, you will experience a journey into the past.
From old hat cases over old original advertisements to authentic machines and hat shapes. From the needle to the sewing machine, our aspiration is to preserve them for future generations.
In the future there will be more and more to discover around hats and caps.

and alterations
In our shop we offer you the option of custom-made hats and caps with a large selection of different natural straws and felt types in various colors and a wide variety of fabrics. From Harris Tweed, Magee and weaving mills
Marling & Evans for example.
You are also welcome to order alterations to your hat or cap.

Unique Hats
Cologne's Izabela Ockenfels, fashion editor and founder of Headwear Now, as well as Pia Diefenthal and her partner Thomas Rüttgers, the owners of the hat company Diefenthal 1905, have started a joint hat project. The focus is on creative, season-independent individualization of hats. Handcrafted, one-of-a-kind finishes are produced from serially manufactured hats at moderate prices.
At Diefenthal1905 at Friesenwall 102 in Cologne, the finished “Unique Hats” can be tried on and bought directly on the first Saturday of each month from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. If there is no suitable hat, a suitable hat can be selected and the individual custom finish can be ordered from Izabela. The other way to a "Unique Hat" is via a fixed date.
